- Retaining this eco-distinction has become a prime objective within Calero Marinas’ social responsibility programme.
Puerto Calero – 6th July, 2018. At 12 noon today, the 23rd Blue Flag was hoisted in Puerto Calero. Present at the ceremony were the Mayor of Yaiza, Mr. Óscar Noda and Tourism Councillor, Mrs. Olga Caraballo, together with Calero Marinas Chairman Mr. José Calero and finally Mr. Constante Lorenzo, whose role is Operations Director for the group’s three marinas.
Blue Flag assessment criteria covers many aspects of environmental management and safety concerns, but also requires a significant effort to be made in terms of environmental education, involving staff, visitors, berth-holders and local residents. In many cases, these activities are best carried out as collaborative efforts with local associations, watersports centres and conservation groups, whose experience and dedication once again this year contributed to another successful open day (the “Jornada de La Náutica y el Medio Ambiente”), a seabed clean-up, a school visit and eco-film showing.
Retaining this eco-distinction has become a prime objective within Calero Marinas’ social responsibility programme; the structure and breadth of the award stipulations providing a helpful framework for future planning. The resulting clean and pleasant surroundings are appreciated by the many boats that visit the marina.
