With today’s presentation, the official kick-off is given to the fourth edition of the one and only regatta of classic yachts that crosses the Atlantic and the second that is held at Marina Lanzarote.
Marina Lanzarote, January 4, 2019. The Panerai Transat Classique was presented this morning at Marina Lanzarote in the presence of the organisers and personalities from the tourism and nautical sector. The Panerai Transat Classique is the only classic boat regatta in the world of that crosses the Atlantic. It is formed by a beautiful fleet of boats known as the “Damas del Mar”. The departure will be next January 8th at 2:00 pm.
At the presentation of the event, Loic Blanken, director of Comet Organization and organiser of this race talked about how he values the tradition with which these boats are built and the passionate spirit of the sailors who participate in this unique test. He later thanked Real Club Náutico de Arrecife for its reception and collaboration with the event.
On behalf of the arrival port on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, Cristina Bernardini, Director of Development for Christophe Harbors in Europe, welcomed the sharing of private and public institutions for the development of these initiatives and how they attract more sustainable tourism. The Councilor of the Tourism of the City of Arrecife, David Duarte, thanked the Panerai Transat Classique organization and Calero Marinas to choose Marina Lanzarote, which is in the capital of the island; for the celebration of such a prestigious event and hopes that the sailors will create lasting memories of the island and can be ambassadors to promote Lanzarote.
The Councilor for Tourism Promotion of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, closed the ceremony, thanking the organization for another year of choosing the island “as the starting point of this prestigious regatta, which is a great honour for Turismo Lanzarote because it ratifies our firm commitment to the promotion of this type of event, through the European Sports Destination label. This strengthens us as an exclusive destination for sailing worldwide “.
The participants of the regatta will have the opportunity to enjoy the traditional arrival of Their Majesties, The Three Kings, by sea at Marina Lanzarote, which is scheduled for 12:00h p.m. on Saturday, January the 5th.
