Team Nika comes out as the leader at the final day, closely followed by Team Ceeref and Peninsula Racing.
The third day of the 44Cup held in Puerto Calero served for the teams to finally enjoy the great conditions of Lanzarote, with two thrilling races starting at 2:35 p.m. The day began with much anticipation, especially when Team Ceeref Vaider managed to take the lead, albeit by a very close margin with respect to Team Nika, who also felt the pressure from Aleph Racing and Artemis Racing. It was precisely the French and Swedish teams that managed to stand out from the rest during the first lap, but with minimal advantages, turning the first race of the day into an eagerly anticipated contest. Such was the equality that Team Nika had to settle for a fourth-place finish, despite having regained the lead on more than one occasion. Thus, the end of the second lap elevated Peninsula Racing to first place with considerable ease, followed by Team Ceeref Vaider, once again demonstrating the Slovakian team’s great consistency on the Lanzarote coast, as well as having to make a maximum effort to prevent Artemis Racing from snatching the silver in the first race.
The second race was again quite closely contested from the outset, with practically all the boats grouped closely together, fighting to make a place at the top of the leaderboard. Team Nika was able to redeem itself to once again demonstrate the power that had propelled it to the top in previous days of this 44Cup Calero Marinas, defending the top spot overall, although not without difficulties as Team Ceeref Vaider and Team Aqua kept up with Vladimir Prosikhin’s boat’s dizzying pace during a contested first stretch of the race. Peninsula Racing and Charisma were also very close behind, adding more suspense to the battle to be among the top finishers. To the delight of the fans present around Puerto Calero, the excitement was even greater in the final meters before reaching the mark. It was then that the Monegasque boat managed to pull away, but this did not prevent an exciting battle for the back positions, where Charisma, Team Aqua, and Aleph Racing stood out, teams that followed the top three of this last race of the day in that order: Team Nika, Team Ceeref Vaider, and Peninsula Racing, crews that end up occupying those same top positions in the overall standings.
Tomorrow, the final day is expected to start at 11:00 a.m. to finally resolve a leaderboard that still does not have a clear winner, so the anticipation will be high to see who will take home the title of the 44Cup Calero Marinas. The 44 Cup Calero Marinas has the invaluable sponsorship of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within the Next Generation EU Funds, through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, Canary Islands Latitude of Life, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Turismo Lanzarote, Lanzarote European Sport Destination, the Yaiza City Council and its Sports Area, with the collaboration of the Cicar group and the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
