Team Nika, the brand-new winner of the 44Cup Calero Marinas.
The Monaco team has shown absolute dominance in the competition, securing the first place. Team Ceeref took second place, closely followed by Peninsula Racing in third place. This Sunday marked the culmination of the last day of the 44Cup Calero Marinas, and Lanzarote provided the perfect setting to put the finishing touches on the first stop of the 44Cup. The majestic black sails of the RC44s mixed with the Optimists of the Código Cero Club, creating a beautiful scene on the horizon of Puerto Calero that united the past and future of this sport. It was Team Aqua that took the last victory of the day and the championship trophy of this event. After the final briefing of the competition, the nine teams eagerly launched into the water to offer the last nautical spectacle of this edition. At 11:00 a.m., the seventh race began, with a fleet that stood out once again for its fairness in the first meters, performing quick maneuvers to take full advantage of the wind intensity, which remained around 17 knots throughout the day. Aleph Racing was the first to tack at the windward mark, located just meters from the Puerto Calero dock, closely followed by Team Nika, Artemis Racing, and Calero Marinas. At the end of the first lap, Aleph Racing maintained the lead, albeit with a small advantage over Team Nika, Artemis Racing, and Team Aqua, who were not far behind the French team. In the last tack around the windward mark, Team Aqua managed to take the lead, opening a gap with its closest competitors: Aleph Racing, Artemis Racing, and Team Nika. Finally, Team Aqua skillfully managed its lead and crossed the finish line in first place, followed by Artemis Racing, which had an exciting battle with Black Star, who crossed the finish line 8 seconds later, securing third place. At 12:00 p.m., the eighth race of the 44Cup Calero Marinas began, with a flawless start that once again highlighted the skill of the crews in the first meters, providing impressive images of both the fleet and the picturesque coastal coastline of the island. Charisma led in the first lap by tacking at the windward mark, closely followed by Team Nika, Team Ceeref Vaider, and Aleph Racing.
The fight was intense, with multiple position changes throughout the race. Charisma maintained its leading position at the end of the first lap of the racecourse, followed by Peninsula Racing, Team Ceeref Vaider, and Aleph Racing. However, Team Aqua demonstrated exceptional sailing by taking the lead after the last tack at the windward mark, closely followed by Aleph Racing and Black Star. Team Aqua and Aleph Racing maintained their positions when crossing the finish line in first and second place respectively, while Team Ceeref finished in third place in this exciting eighth race. The excitement reached its peak in the last race of the 44Cup Calero Marinas, where the fans who watched from the spectator boat all the action of the day enjoyed exciting races. After a close start, Peninsula Racing took the lead in the first tack at the windward mark, followed by Team Nika, Charisma, and Artemis Racing. The teams were giving their best in this final race, showing no intention of giving up the opportunity to secure victory in the competition. Team Nika was the leader at the end of the first lap, with Peninsula Racing, Artemis Racing, and Team Aqua just meters behind. In the last pass around the windward mark, Team Nika maintained its leading position, closely followed by Peninsula Racing and Aleph Racing in second and third place respectively. Team Nika took full advantage of the conditions in the last part of the race and crossed the finish line in first place, while the fight for the podium in this last race was very close. Finally, in an interval of just 10 seconds, they arrived in this order: Peninsula Racing, Aleph Racing, Team Aqua, Team Ceeref, and Charisma. Black Star and Artemis Racing were left behind in comparison, and Calero Sailing Team withdrew from this last race. With the results obtained in the last day of the 44Cup Calero Marinas, Team Nika (26) consolidates its position as the leader of the season, followed by Team Ceeref Vaider (34), Peninsula Racing (35), Team Aqua (39), Aleph Racing (41), Charisma (46), Back Star Sailing Team (56), Artemis Racing (59), and Calero Sailing Team (72). After the return of the entire fleet to Puerto Calero, the awards ceremony took place, and recognitions were given to all crews in the organization tent. The awards ceremony was attended by the Minister of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands, who congratulated the celebration of this event in the waters of Lanzarote and trusted in a new edition in one of the four marinas managed by the Calero Marinas group.
